Here is one from the Old Master world … Milene Fernandez’s review of the Guido Cagnacci exhibition that is currently on view at The Frick Collection (through January 22); after which it heads to The National Gallery, London, from February 15 – May 21, 2017.
Cagnacci appears to have been a real eccentric … He never married, but was known for going around with women dressed as men—disguised as his workshop assistants to avoid public condemnation. Nobody knows if they were indeed his assistants, his mistresses, his models, or a combination of all three.
If you are in New York City and enjoy the Old Masters, this is probably one exhibit you do not want to miss.
