Loving Vincent Is the First Feature Film to Be Animated With Paintings

March 8, 2016

How amazing is this?

Polish painter Dorota Kobiela and British filmmaker Hugh Welchman have teamed up to create the worlds first animated film made out of paintings.  No special CGI used here; Kobiela will paint close to 57,000 works producing an 80 minute long movie exploring the untimely death of Vincent van Gogh.  Her inspiration for the project came from a letter Vincent wrote to his brother stating, “we can only speak through our paintings.”  An unsettling line that sparked Kobiela’s investigation of van Gogh’s 120 paintings and 800  letters.

Here is a trailer of what to expect in, Loving Vincent.
