Christie’s First Spring Sale Drops Prices Back to Earth

May 7, 2014

Christie’s First Spring Sale Drops Prices Back to Earth — one really should not draw too many conclusions from the results of one sale.  53 works were offered and 6 failed to find buyers (88.7%) and the total take (with commissions) was $285.9 million … pre-sale estimate range was $244.5-$360.4 million.  Top price for the evening was Monet’s Nymphéas, a very nice work of art at $27 million.
