Asian Buyers Splurge $65.5 Million in London Art Auctions. More Chinese artwork hit the auction block … this time in London. The three main salerooms offered more than 1,100 works and more than 1/3 of the items did not sell; however, the overall results were still pretty strong.
With buyers focusing in on the best items, some bringing very strong prices … the top lot was an 18th century vase that made £3.1M ($4.95M) … more than 10 times its estimated value. The series of sale were expected to bring in about £31.7M and when the week ended, the total hit £40.9M.
