Christie’s pulls works after ‘forgery’ concerns

June 5, 2013

Forgery was to blame for the removal of ten works from Christie’s Latin American Auction in New York last month.  Works by Ivan Serpa, Mira Schendel, Roberto Burle Marx, Ione Saldanha, Hercules Barsotti, Ubi Bava and Amilcar de Castro were all out of the same Rio de Janeiro-based collection.  The collector who was shocked by this event, claims he put the works at auction for his grandmother who is unable to recall where the works were bought due to Alzheimer’s disease.
