A Rare and Rarely Seen de Kooning, “Untitled V – not to be outdone by the competition, Sotheby’s announced that they will be offering Willem de Kooning’s Untitled V in their November sale with a $25-$35M estimate. The work was originally purchased by the owner of the Fourcade Droll Gallery, NYC, the year it was painted. At that time, the going retail price for the works from this 1975 series was about $100,000.
