Here is something a bit different than dots or preserved animals from Damien Hirst… Giant Fetuses! Monday saw the unveiling of 14 enormous bronze sculptures by the renowned artist. Commissioned by the Qatar Museums Authority, “The Miraculous Journey,” depicts the chronological metamorphosis of early development from fertilization to new-born baby. The sculptures weigh a staggering total of 216 metric tonnes (Slightly more than a US ton. US ton=2,000 lbs vs. metric ton=2,204.623 lbs. Americans don’t have time for all those numbers, but anyway…) and are perfectly situated outside Sidra Medical and Research Center in Doha, which specializes in world class patient care for women and children.
