The Call to Arms. Here is a rather large painting by the 19th century French artist Pierre Edouard Frere (1819-1886), titled The Call to Arms, that the gallery sold about 5 or 6 years ago. The work was originally painted in 1862 and was probably exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1863.
