Sending Art to the Moon

July 6, 2015

The Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institution has plans to send a four-chambered ‘Ark’ to the moon.  The size of half a soda can, this ark will hold four engraved sapphire disks, small metal sculptures, biological samples of life on earth, nano-artworks and other artifacts representing 21st-century culture.  With plans to remain on the moon forever, a replica of the ark will stay here on earth, touring Europe in an exhibition curated by Jean Luc Sorect.
