We visited the space at 20 West 55th Street this week to check the progress and meet with the contractor. Once we arrived, they informed us that the lighting system needed some changes – more complex dimming controllers and track lighting breaks. These upgrades should not delay the process but will, of course, add to the cost! On the bright side, the plumbing roughing and inspection is done, and most materials are on order (tile, carpet, fixtures, etc.). They also completed a few minor layout changes. So, the build-out is moving along and still seems to be on target for a March completion. That is, if everything goes as planned, but does it ever?
Our next visit will be during the first week of January, and by then, most of the walls should be closed up, and hopefully, all the ductwork will be in place (I will update you with new images then). One of the big delays is the HVAC until … at least 15 weeks. And, in case you are wondering what other items have a long lead time. Doors also have a 15-week delay. Go figure.
Our new, larger gallery space at 20 West 55th Street will allow us to store and exhibit more work. It will also enable us to expand our roster of extremely gifted and talented contemporary artists and broaden the scope of the historical works of art we offer.
Our family wishes everyone a very happy holiday season and is looking forward to welcoming you to our new gallery space in 2023.
