Justice Joseph A. Trainor (Massachusetts Appeals Court) issued an answer to the museum’s request for clarification of his order that stopped the auction of 40 works of art. Trainor stated that “To the extent clarification is needed, all proceedings in the trial court are stayed pending further order of the single justice.”
The Berkshire Museum was hoping to keep their legal battle in Pittsfield; however, it now appears that all legal matters will be handled in Boston. The hope is that a cooling off period will allow both sides to try and come up with a solution that everyone is happy with. I doubt that will happen.
With all of this publicity, I hope attendance is up at the museum. Oh wait, all of their best works of art are still at the auction house!
