It was inevitable … a lawsuit was file against the Berkshire Museum to halt the sale of 40 important paintings from its collection. Norman Rockwell’s three sons (Thomas , Jarvis , and Peter), along with other plaintiffs, hope to obtain a temporary restraining order. According to Michael Keating, their attorney, they believe that “statutes that created the museum and the Atheneum do not permit this sale”.
The case is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, November 1. If nothing else, the museum is getting a lot of publicity from this!
