Christie’s Contemporary Sale’s Solid Results

What a difference a day  makes.  Last night Christie’s offered its contemporary works of art and the results were pretty solid … but then again, the works were pretty solid.  87 percent of the 61 works sold and the total take was $318.4M (low end of the estimate range was $281M).  Top price was $57.3M for Basquiat’s untitled work (it last sold in 2004 for $4.5M — nice return).  There are still more sales to come — so hold on to your hats, the ride is still in its early phase.  For more on the sales use the links below:
