Auction Prices Go Up Without Bidding -Phillips ups thresholds for buyer’s premium

May 18, 2016

The price of some art just got a little more expensive.  Until now, the thresholds for increases at Phillips was similar to those at Christie’s.  Now the auction room has decided to match Sotheby’s higher thresholds.  So, a $150,000 work of art at Christie’s would incur a $35,000 buyer’s premium, bringing the total price to $185,000.  At Phillips and Sotheby’s that same work would cost $187,500.  For just a little more on the story, click HERE.
