Authorities in France seize Picasso painting banned from leaving Spain

August 4, 2015

Pablo Picasso’s “Head of a Yong Woman” worth $27.4 million was seized from a boat docked at Corsica over the weekend by French authorities just before it was to be illegally exported to Switzerland.  The work, owned by well-known Spanish banker Jaime Botín-Sanz de Sautuola García de los Ríos (79), was placed on an “unexportable” list of artworks this year on grounds that it was of “cultural interest.”  Now, French officials wait for Spain to officially request to recover the painting.  FULL ARTICLE
