Topekan pays $2 for painting worth thousands

July 2, 2015

Another remarkable story about a lucky thrift store find.  Heather Brown purchased a painting for $2 at a Kansas City thrift store several months ago.  After researching the artist, she connected with an art appraiser who told her he believed the work may be an original Romeo V. Tabuena painting.  The art appraiser further connecting Brown with Christie auction house where she was happy to find out that her painting could sell for upwards of $15,000.

The painting will be part of Chirstie’s November sale in Hong Kong — last year, a work by Tabuena sold for almost $50,000 at Sotheby’s.  FULL ARTICLE
