Here is an interesting development in the Old Master auction market. The Alfred Beit Foundation was set to sell 9 works of art, including paintings by Rubens, Teniers and Guardi, due to financial problems, this July. But now, because of a public uproar and proposals by donors to “purchase” the works of art so they can remain in Ireland, they are considering a postponement.
