Billionaire’s art expert slams attack on Chinese collectors buying western masterpieces

The recent growth in purchasing western art in China is being compared to the early 19th century trade of opium from western countries into Asia.  In the past month, high ticket items by artist like Monet, van Gogh and Picasso garnering prices from $20 million – $66 million were all bought by rich Chinese businessmen.  It is said that the criticism stems from the Chinese governments concerns over the countries unquestionable adaptation to Western ideas and culture.  FULL ARTICLE
