Mouse movie ‘Stuart Little’ leads to long-lost painting

December 3, 2014

Art Historian, Gergely Barki,  researching the avant garde works of Robert Bereny, was shocked to spot a long lost painting by the artist on the wall of the movie his daughter was watching. On set of the 1999 movie, Stuart Little, hung Bereny’s “Sleeping Lady With a Black Vase” which hadn’t been seen since 1928.  According to reports, the assistant set designer bought the painting at an antiques shop for $500 and after the movie was done filming hung it in her bedroom.  The work will be auctioned this month in Budapest with an estimate between$240,000 – $350,000.
