As would be expected, the results for the items in the sale which is happening today are off the charts. A pair of red silk stocking, estimated at €4-5K, sold for €15K; a shirt worn by Napoleon (est. €30-40K) brought €70K; a lock of his hair accompanied by a Medal of an Officer of the Legion of Honour (€6-8K) made €35K, a leather wallet (est. €5-8K) made €36K and Napoleon’s hat (shown below), which carried a €300-400K estimate, just sold for €1.5M.
