J.M.W. Turner: an Exhibit, a Film and an Auction – lots of Turner action. “Late Turner: Painting Set Free”, at the Tate Britain, covers the years 1835 to 1851, when Mr. Turner died at age 76. The show, which runs through Jan. 25, has 177 artworks and related objects. That includes 63 of Mr. Turner’s oil paintings and rich examples of his watercolor works on paper—as well as his palette, spectacles and death mask. In February 2015, a smaller version of the Tate Britain show will travel to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and later to San Francisco’s de Young Museum.
