Collectors of Keith Haring Works File Lawsuit – another story about authenticity. A group of 9 collectors have sued the Keith Haring Foundation for $40 million claiming they wrongfully destroyed the value of their paintings. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Many authentication committees have disbanded due to the fear of being sued by individuals who are unhappy with their findings. A solution is needed so that true ‘experts’ can give an opinion on the authenticity of a work without worrying about serious legal ramifications. If not, a lot of fake works will continue to trade in the art market … and more will appear.
