MoMA has finally unveiled their plans for a major expansion and renovation, and most controversially, their plan to reduce the American Folk Art Museum to rubble. The mock-up images show what will be a sleek and open layout, everything that MoMA should be… Modern. The entire first floor and Sculpture Garden will be open to the public (FREE!) and with more open space, the museum hopes to eliminate the occurrence of overwhelming crowds which tend to make the space feel more like a bar or nightclub than a museum. Unfortunately, there is currently no published timetable for the completion of the project but hopefully we will find out soon!
