Well, it appears that today’s sale in India was a big hit … looks like only 4 of the 83 works did not sell (95% sell-through rate). Their star lot, Mehta’s Mahishasura, did very well … INR197.8M ($3.16M) – way over the estimate … but it was not the top lot … Gaitonde’s Untitled made a whopping INR237M ($3.8M – est. INR65M-INR85M). The sale grossed INR965,935,500 (or about $15.5M … they were expecting about $8M).
