Masterpiece looted by Nazis installed at LA museum

November 27, 2013

In the LA museum a life-sized painting of St. Catherine of Alexandria— painted in Italy around 1615 by Bernardo Strozzi — now hangs on the wall.  After being looted by Nazis in World War II the work was given back to its rightful owner, Philippa Calnan, the sole direct descendant.  The work was then gifted to the museum.
