Nine people have been arrested for a conspiracy to sell forged works by Picasso, Goya, Manuel Viola, Menchu Gal and Benjamin Palencia in Spain. A well reputable gallery in Madrid has been trying to sell the works to numerous antique shops, galleries and auction houses around Spain. Authorities have puzzled together the forgeries and connected them to a painter in Cordoba who carefully imitated the 16th-19th century styles and used an aging process on the works. Furthermore, furniture being sold as ancient artifacts, 30 ivory objects, 4 elephant tusks, a 9 millimeter Luger pistol, and 35 bars of gold bullion were confiscated from the gallery.
