Sotheby’s has decided Hong Kong will be the best location to auction an incredibly rare 7.59 carat vivid blue diamond. With an estimate of $19 million, the stone could set a per-carat record for any diamond. The decision to sell the stone in Hong Kong highlights how important Asia has become in the world of luxury items, as it is now referred to the “third pillar” in the global jewelry market alongside Geneva and New York.
On a side note, I’ll take this opportunity to mention the other Rehs family business. For all your diamond jewelry needs check out www.RehsDiamonds.com.
