Artist Paints With Toxic Sludge In An Effort To Raise Awareness Of Coal Mining Pollution

August 29, 2013

John Sabraw is a professor at Ohio University and clearly a talented and creative artist. Sabraw was inspired to create the pigments for his paintings using toxic runoff after his sustainability group toured southern Ohio and witnessed streams that were mostly orange and red, an effect of the iron oxide in the water. His beautiful artwork is a unique way to raise awareness of the coal mining pollution problems in his state.
