Kandinsky Fetches $21.2 Million, Asians Boost Sale Demand – more on last night’s sale of Impressionist and Modern works. The sale did very well when one considers what was offered. Both auction rooms are having trouble finding really good works so the sales are smaller … which is a good thing; less supply and increased demand is keeping the market strong. The Kandinsky was the top lot of the sale at $21M and other works had a strong showing – Boudin’s Scene de plage from 1864 made an auction record £1.2 (about $1.9M) and Picasso took 4 of the top ten slots.
