House Painter Accused of Stealing Art From NY Estate

Joselito Vega is facing up to 26 years in jail after being arrested for charges stemming from the theft of a number of artworks which were taken from the estate of Michael Schulhof in Kings Point, NY. Vega, a 42 year old who worked for Zimmer painting Inc., allegedly stole three works of art in March of 2011 from the collection of over 300 pieces.  In a sting operation set up by the Kings County DA’s office last week, Joselito Vega is facing up to 26 years in jail after being arrested for charges stemming from the theft of a number of artworks was again hired to work at the estate where hidden cameras were installed and several paintings were left out. This time Vega was seen on video stealing 3 more works which gave sufficient grounds for his arrest. The six stolen works are worth more than $100,000 and two of them have still not been recovered. Vega was indicted on Monday on charges of money laundering, identity theft, grand larceny in Kings County and 2nd and 3rd degree grand larceny in Nassau County.
