Steven Brooks Sues Sotheby’s Claiming They Sold Him Nazi Art

Courthouse News Service – Steven Brooks is suing the auction room over a painting by Louis-Michel van Loo titled Allegorical Portrait of a Lady as Diana Wounded by Cupid that he bought back in 2004.  Turns out that the painting was once owned by Hermann Goering (he purchased it on August 23, 1939) and with that name in the provenance, nobody wants to touch it … not even Sotheby’s!
