Alpine Symphony

Oil on board
12 x 15 inches

This spectacular view of the Bavarian Alps shows the majestic height of the mountain range,a dreamlike atmosphere and deep obscure canyons. It is much like a symphony that can move you beyond words. Composer Richard Strauss' "Alpine Symphony" describes an eleven hour climb, from daybreak to nightfall, in an Alpine mountain. In 1908, because of his love of nature, Strauss built a home in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria. This painting is one of the stunning views from that landscape. While traveling to Garmish-Partenkirchen with my husband, I was able to get incredible references for this work.
