And now, the memorial committee has chosen a design by the esteemed architecture firm Foster + Partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Foster + Partners is a<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> world-renowned architecture firm based in London, with their designs earning it top architecture prizes, including the Stirling Prize and the Pritzker Prize. Some of its most notable designs include <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guidelondon.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/View-of-London-Millennium-Bridge-from-Tate-Modern.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Millennium Bridge<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.designingbuildings.co.uk\/w\/images\/3\/34\/London-71205_640.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">London City Hall<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the London skyscraper known as <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/api.architectuul.org\/media\/5a1826a0-f498-4dca-8ae8-4b576d7b5e1b\/1312x.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Gherkin<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/images.skyscrapercenter.com\/building\/hearst-tower_hearst-corporation1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Hearst Tower<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in New York City, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/content.fosterandpartners.com\/api\/media\/getCroppedImage?imagePath=\/media\/uvypar0q\/hero-1859-fp707753.jpg&amp;width=1200&amp;height=630&amp;crop=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Apple Park<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in Cupertino, California, and <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/media.cnn.com\/api\/v1\/images\/stellar\/prod\/170308094749-wembley-stadium-aerial.jpg?q=w_4896,h_3264,x_0,y_0,c_fill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the new Wembley Stadium<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Foster + Partners\u2019 designs for the queen\u2019s memorial feature several components. They include a series of gardens situated on both sides of the park&#8217;s central lake, which will be dedicated to Britain\u2019s communities and the Commonwealth of Nations. The space will also include areas for artists\u2019 installations, with the British-Nigerian sculptor Yinka Shonibare already set to create a work of public art. <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/25\/06\/1600x900\/skynews-st-jamess-park-london_6949259.jpg?20250624085948\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A new bridge made of glass<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will cross the park\u2019s lake, designed to invoke the appearance of the Queen Mary Fringe tiara, a tiara the queen wore <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/10YbAZX58Zfx9s5nWtNH4JEiso7YdE5ZOaLXqSh6wQyI\/edit?tab=t.0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">at her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. It will replace <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/dynamic-media-cdn.tripadvisor.com\/media\/photo-o\/2e\/b6\/28\/b1\/caption.jpg?w=700&amp;h=400&amp;s=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the currently standing Blue Bridge<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, one of the most popular spots for photographs in Saint James\u2019s Park. <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/25\/06\/1600x900\/skynews-queen-elizabeth-ii_6949266.jpg?20250624090324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A large equestrian statue of the queen herself<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will be placed close to Marlborough Gate near the northern boundary of the park. Meanwhile, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/e3.365dm.com\/25\/06\/1600x900\/skynews-queen-elizabeth-ii_6949263.jpg?20250624090157\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a new gate dedicated to Prince Philip<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will mark the other end of the memorial area, featuring a statue of the royal couple.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Robin Janvrin, chair of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the design committee and private secretary to the queen for over eight years, commented, \u201cAll five of the shortlisted teams produced creative designs of the highest quality. Foster + Partners\u2019 ambitious and thoughtful master plan will allow us and future generations to appreciate Queen Elizabeth\u2018s life of service as she balanced continuity and change with strong values, common sense and optimism throughout her long reign.\u201d The memorial area will be developed in stages, allowing visitors to access the area during construction. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While Foster + Partners has<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> released the broad strokes of their masterplan, many of the details still need to be hammered out. These new Colours will be ceremonially 'Trooped' at the Queen's Birthday Parade on Horse Guards in June 2014. The presentation was just one of three colourful and important events today for the First Regiment of Foot Guards. These new Colours will be ceremonially 'Trooped' at the Queen's Birthday Parade on Horse Guards in June 2014. The presentation was just one of three colourful and important events today for the First Regiment of Foot Guards. Today witnessed a unique Regimental occasion, Grenadier Day, which also incorporated the Inspection of The Queen\u201a\u00c4\u00f4s Company Grenadier Guards, and a celebration of the Centenary of the Grenadier Guards Association, all within the setting of a Buckingham Palace Garden Party for the whole Regimental family.
