Under the federal law an artist is able to disown their work \u201cin the event of a distortion mutilation, or other modification,\u201d known as the Vara (Visual Artists Rights Act).\u00a0 Recently, Cady Noland, the American painter known for her works revolving around the \u201cAmerican Dream\u201d withdrew her work, Cowboys Milking, 1990, from a Sotheby\u2019s auction due to damages.\u00a0 Marc Jancou, owner of the work plans to appeal the dismissal of the $6m lawsuit.<\/p>\n
