Coming in second was Degas\u2019 <em>Dans les coulisses<\/em> at \u00a38.99M ($12.3M, est. \u00a38-12M) and in third we had a Monet tie when his <em>Prairie \u00e0 Giverny<\/em> (est. \u00a37-10M) and <em>V\u00e9theuil<\/em> (est. \u00a34-6M) each brought \u00a37.55M ($10.4M) \u2026 personally, I preferred the latter.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_28992\" style=\"width: 202px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/claude_monet_vetheuil.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28992\" class=\"wp-image-28992\" src=\"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/claude_monet_vetheuil-300x210.jpg\" alt=\"claude_monet_vetheuil-300x210\" width=\"192\" height=\"134\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/claude_monet_vetheuil-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/claude_monet_vetheuil.jpg 485w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 192px) 100vw, 192px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-28992\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Monet &#8211; V\u00e9theuil<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The balance of the evening had its ups (Kandinsky, more Monets, Heckel, etc.) and downs (Matisse, Derain, Dongen, etc), but overall the sale seemed to hold its own with many of the lots selling within or slightly above their estimate range.
