Seattle University removed Close&#8217;s <em>\u201cSelf-Portrait 2000\u201d from display citing concerns over \u201cpotential student, faculty or staff reaction<\/em>\u201d.\u00a0 A\u00a0teacher in Utah was terminated because there were some images of nude works of art in a set of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/?post_type=post&amp;p=28552?contemporary=N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">postcards<\/a> <\/em>he passed around a classroom (he obtained them from the school&#8217;s library).\u00a0One individual even started a petition to have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/?post_type=post&amp;p=28222?contemporary=N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Balthus&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Dreaming<\/em><\/a> removed from the walls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.<\/p>\n<p>Svetlana Mintcheva&#8217;s recent article in The Guardian also points out that as we travel down this road, there soon will be: <em>No more marveling at Caravaggio\u2019s chiaroscuro, his lovely and sensual young models. (The artist\u2019s favorite model is apocryphally known to be \u201chis owne boy or servant thait laid with him\u201d and, to add to his sins, he was also, probably, a murderer.) &#8230;\u00a0No more Picasso, who lived up to his infamous slogan \u201cWomen are machines for suffering\u201d; no more of the tortured expressionism of Egon Schiele who was accused of sexually abusing his teen models&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I am now wondering when\u00a0the Vatican will decide to paint over Michelangelo&#8217;s Sistine Ceiling because of the artist&#8217;s sexual preferences?\u00a0 They do say history repeats itself &#8230; so, when do you think we will start destroying &#8216;degenerate art&#8217;, or burning books?
