{"id":26779,"date":"2017-06-05T14:39:48","date_gmt":"2017-06-05T18:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rehs.com\/blog\/?p=26779"},"modified":"2023-12-28T05:50:22","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T10:50:22","slug":"alcoholics-anonymous-sues-for-return-of-original-12-step-manuscript","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/2017\/06\/alcoholics-anonymous-sues-for-return-of-original-12-step-manuscript\/","title":{"rendered":"Alcoholics Anonymous Sues for Return of Original 12-Step Manuscript"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/alcoholics-anonymous-sues-return-original-12-step-manuscript\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"AA-draft\" src=\"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AA-draft.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Part of the working draft<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to Alcoholics Anonymous World Services (A.A.W.S.), the &#8216;printer&#8217;s copy&#8217; of the text for William Griffith Wilson&#8217;s original 12-step book &#8220;Alcoholics Anonymous&#8221; was gifted to them by Wilson&#8217;s friend, Barry Leach, back in 1979. \u00a0So, you may be wondering why is it not in their possession? \u00a0Well, according to the complaint filed in New York County Supreme Court,\u00a0<em>due to either extreme negligence or potentially wrongful actions by individuals outside of A.A.W.S. at or around the time of Mr. Leach\u2019s death, A.A.W.S. did not come into possession of the manuscript,\u201d the 11-page complaint states. \u201cMr. Leach\u2019s estate had no title in the manuscript.
