Over the past few years we have posted a number of\u00a0articles about selfie mishaps and the unfortunate works of art\u00a0that were damaged\u00a0as a result. \u00a0Well, once again someone selfishly tried to snap a selfie, this time with a 16th century statue outside a station in Portugal . \u00a0 The 126 year old statue depicts Dom Sebastiao\u00a0—\u00a0a young 24-year-old King reigning between 1557 and 1578 (he took the throne at the age of 3) who was killed in battle of Alcacer Quibir. \u00a0The work\u00a0stood between two archway entrances to the Rossio station. Before getting his selfie, the statue fell to the ground and shattered to\u00a0pieces. The young man attempted to flee the scene; but police apprehended him before he was able to get away.<\/p>\n
