{"id":24035,"date":"2016-05-04T13:44:30","date_gmt":"2016-05-04T17:44:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rehs.com\/blog\/?p=24035"},"modified":"2024-03-21T02:25:50","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T06:25:50","slug":"fbi-searches-home-of-reputed-mobster-suspected-in-boston-art-heist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/2016\/05\/fbi-searches-home-of-reputed-mobster-suspected-in-boston-art-heist\/","title":{"rendered":"FBI Searches Home of Reputed Mobster Suspected in Boston Art Heist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been more than\u00a0a quarter century since the most expensive art heist in history occurred.\u00a0 Just after midnight on March 18, 1990, thirteen works from the permanent collection of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston were stolen; their whereabouts have remained unknown ever since.\u00a0 At the time, the works were valued at $500 million with a large portion of the total held by Vermeer\u2019s \u201cThe Concert\u201d which was Gardner\u2019s first major acquisition and one of only 34 known works by the artist (valued at $200 million). \u00a0With ongoing investigations still in effect the FBI was able to obtain\u00a0another search warrant, on May 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, for &#8220;in and around&#8221; Robert \u201cBobby the Cook\u201d Gentile\u2019s home &#8212; this was the\u00a0third time they gained access to the property.\u00a0 It is believed that Gentile knows the location of the works;\u00a0however, since the heist he has denied his involvement.\u00a0 All leads have led the FBI to Northeast and New England criminal gangs, in particular Bobby Donati, Vincent Ferrara and Gentile \u2013 all Boston Mob.
