{"id":22691,"date":"2015-12-15T18:57:31","date_gmt":"2015-12-15T18:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rehs.com\/blog\/?p=22691"},"modified":"2019-02-28T22:41:07","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T03:41:07","slug":"22691","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rehs.com\/eng\/2015\/12\/22691\/","title":{"rendered":"Koons faces copyright infringement&#8230;again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No surprise here\u2026according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-koons-photo-lawsuit-idUSKBN0TX2KQ20151215\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters<\/a>, contemporary artist, Jeff Koons is being sued yet again over copyright infringement.\u00a0 Photographer Mitchel Gray has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court after he learned that his photograph taken in 1989 of a woman painting on the beach alongside a man was used by Koons that same year for his artwork I <em>Could Go For Something Gordon\u2019s<\/em>, from his series \u201cLuxury &amp; Degradation.\u201d The suit alleges that both Gordon\u2019s, a gin company, and Koons used the photograph without Gray\u2019s permission.\u00a0 Gray has also filed a suit against Phillips Auction House in London for selling the artist&#8217;s proof in 2008 for $2.04 million.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 296px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/thenypost.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/koonsart.jpg?quality=100&amp;strip=all&amp;w=530\" alt=\"koonsart\" width=\"286\" height=\"144\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">NYPOST<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over the past several years, Koons has racked up quite a few lawsuits\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rogers v. Koons \u2013 Koons lost the case over his sculpture <em>Strings of Puppies,<\/em> after being found guilty of plagiarizing a photograph of a couple holding a group of puppies.<\/li>\n<li>United Features Syndicate v. Koons \u2013 Koons lost the case over his sculpture <em>Odie<\/em>, a character featured in\u00a0Garfield.<\/li>\n<li>Davidovici v. Koons &#8211; French adman\u00a0Franck Davidovici\u00a0sued the artist for plagiarizing his sculpture <em>Fait d\u2019Hiver<\/em> which looked just like a photo advertisement done for the clothing brand Naf-Naf.<\/li>\n<li>Bauret-Allard v. Koons \u2013 Wife of photographer Claude Bauret-Allard, filed a lawsuit against koons over his sculpture <em>Naked<\/em> for plagiarizing her late husband\u2019s photo of a naked boy and girl.<\/li>\n<li>Blanch v.
