Was China ever really number 1?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is an interesting article, but the real questions are: \u00a0Were\u00a0the numbers reported by the Chinese salerooms over the past few years accurate? \u00a0Were all the reported purchases paid for? \u00a0I have read a great deal about all the B.S.\u00a0going on in the Chinese market. \u00a0I would love to know the real numbers &#8212; you know, those lots that were sold and actually paid for. \u00a0To read the full article, click <a href=\"http:\/\/theartnewspaper.com\/market\/art-market-news\/158106\/\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In case you are interested in reading more, here is a Forbes article from 2012 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/abigailesman\/2012\/08\/13\/chinas-13-billion-art-fraud-and-what-it-means-for-you\/\">China&#8217;s $13 Billion Art Fraud &#8212; And What It Means For You<\/a>. \u00a0Abigail Esman begins the article with:<\/p>\n<p><em>If you pay attention either to China or the art market, you\u2019ve probably heard the story: China last year became \u2013 according to art industry experts \u2013 the world\u2019s largest market for art and antiques, surpassing the USA.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Well, here\u2019s a shocker: it isn\u2019t.
