This should be a very interesting exhibition of Jackson Pollock in monochrome. \u00a0In 1951 Pollock began to explore a middle ground between abstraction and figuration in a series of works painted in black on raw canvas. \u00a0He exhibited them at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York and nothing sold — well, after the show she did sell one to a friend at half price … that was one smart buyer! \u00a0I want a time machine!!!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

By the early 50s, Pollock began to fall deeper into depression and drinking; ultimately killing himself and a female passenger in 1956 when he crashed his car into a tree at 80 mph. \u00a0He was just 44 years old … a great loss.<\/p>\n
