The controversial event featured a contest for cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad. The contest had nearly concluded when the violence ensued&#8230; two men, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi who are loosely linked to ISIS, pulled up to the entrance and were met by an officer and a security guard around 7 PM. The two men immediately exited their car and opened fire but thanks to a very responsive SWAT team, the threat was neutralized before the incident escalated. No art show attendees were harmed while the security guard was struck in the ankle&#8230; Both suspects were killed in the shootout. Nevertheless, it is a terrifying to know that an art show was the target of a terrorist attack.
