In addition to the 1,406 works that were recovered by German authorities in 2012 from Cornelius Gurlitt’s home in Munich, 60 more pieces have been found in Gurlitt’s residence in Salzburg, Austria. The newly found collection includes some major artists, such as Picasso, Monet, Renoir and Manet.<\/p>\n

This discovery is bound to cause some controversy with respect to how the original find was handled by German authorities. Initially, customs inspectors dismissed the idea that Gurlitt may have more priceless works hidden away somewhere else. Additionally, authorities have been rather secretive regarding the collection and are withholding information even though descendants of the rightful owners are attempting to recover their family treasures. In all, 380 works from the original find have been identified as Nazi looted art.<\/p>\n
