Banksy’s new artwork criticises use of teargas in Calais refugee camp

January 25, 2016

Over the weekend, a first of its kind Banksy appeared on the exterior of the French embassy in London.  The artwork, depicting a young girl from the film and musical Les Miserables, is shown crying as billows of CS gas engulf her.  Banksy is calling out the French police who denied using teargas in an overnight raid earlier this month, evicting 1,500 refugees from a camp in Calais.  What makes this work so unique is the QR code Banksy stenciled on next to the imagery.  The code links to a seven minute clip posted on YouTube showing teargas, rubber bullets and concussion grenades being used by the French Police in the raid.
