Source: The Departure Here is one by the 19th century Italian artist Cesare Detti (1847-1914) that we sold back in 2013. Though the early part of his life was spent in Italy, like many artists of his time, he traveled to Paris (the center of the art world in the 19th century) to further his career. Once there he met with Adolphe Goupil, began exhibiting at the Paris Salon and started a new chapter in his life. He started a family, moved to Marlotte and would remain in France until his death in 1914.
