Like his brother, Henry John, he decided to change his last name to avoid confusion with the other members of the family. Sidney was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy, British Institute and Suffolk Street Galleries and was then, and still is now, considered to be one of the most gifted members of the Williams family.
