Why do we love Picasso? A ‘creativity algorithm’ explains.

August 5, 2015

The Washington Post published a very interesting article last week based on a new algorithm developed by Professor Ahmed Elgammal of Rutgers University.  According to the article, by using a series of mathematical transformations, we can now determine the “creativity” of a work of art which in return shows us why we may like certain art works over others.  Interestingly enough, paintings by Mondrain, O’Keeffe and Picasso ranked at the top of the “creativity” scale while da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” was absent from the list all together.  For more information on Elgammal’s algorithm, read the full article here.
