Guggenheim descendants in French court battle over art treasures

Peggy Guggenheim bought the Palazzo Venir dei Leoni on the Grand Canal to home her incredible collection of contemporary works; now, the most visited museum of modern art in Italy, since her death.  When Guggenheim bequeathed the works to the Guggenheim Foundation she had strict rules of keeping the collection as a whole at the Palazzo, without any additions.  Since then, over 75 works have been added from the Schulhof collection and her descendants are challenging the management of the museum and will launch a court appeal on Tuesday after their prior attempt was thrown out .  FULL ARTICLE
