Hope you’ve been saving up…

October 7, 2014

Auction season is just around the corner and the top-end of the market is as hot as ever… New York is the place to be as the Impressionism, Modern and Contemporary sales all happen within a few days of each other. Some of the more sought after works include Alberto Giacometti’s Chariot Sculpture, estimated to bring over $100 million as well as a pair of Warhol’s (Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando) which are expected to go for $130 million. Ten of the major works have a combined valued of nearly $500 million, and with Asian collectors playing a large role in elevated prices… it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think this set of sales will surpass the New York spring sales earlier this year where figures eclipsed $2 billion.
